Key information to check before agreeing to buy a vehicle from a marketplace dealer.
Know your seller
Each vehicle offer must identify whether the seller is a professional trader or a private seller. DAAD's launch model admits verified professional dealers. The identified dealer—not DAAD unless expressly stated—is responsible for the sale contract, vehicle description, conformity, statutory guarantees, delivery and complaint handling.
Before a binding agreement
The dealer must provide clear information including its legal identity and contact details, the vehicle's main characteristics and condition, the total price including taxes and unavoidable charges, payment and delivery terms, complaint handling, applicable guarantees, and any withdrawal right or exception. Review the final dealer contract and vehicle documents before signing or paying.
A DAAD “reservation request” is not a card payment and is not itself a binding vehicle purchase. Any future button that creates an obligation to pay must say so clearly and show the final total immediately before confirmation.
Vehicle-specific checks
- Confirm VIN, ownership and registration documentation, mileage, accident or repair history, inspection status, service history and known defects.
- Confirm whether the price includes VAT, registration, export, transport and country-specific taxes.
- For a distance sale, ask the dealer which statutory withdrawal rules apply and whether a vehicle-specific exception is claimed.
- Financing estimates are not an approval. Review the authorised lender's standard information, APR, total repayable amount and withdrawal terms.
Complaints and dispute resolution
Contact the dealer first for a sale or vehicle complaint and retain the listing, messages, contract and payment evidence. You may also open a traceable DAAD Support request. Applicable alternative dispute resolution depends on the seller's country and participation; DAAD will not direct consumers to the discontinued EU ODR platform.
Mandatory rights under the consumer's applicable national and EU law are not excluded by DAAD's platform terms.
